This is where information relating to characters in the current campaign will be displayed. It is intended to include statistics and write-ups on different characters here in the future.
Because of the number of 'established' characters in the campaign, all new characters begin with the following, in addition to what they receive as a normal part of the Character Creation process (refer to the Character Creation Summary for details):
Legend Points : All new characters begin with 10,000 Legend Points. This is sufficient to create a 4th Circle character, albeit stretched thinly on Talent Ranks, or a more capable 2nd or 3rd Circle character. The house rules for limiting Talent Ranks applies (character's highest Circle x 2), with the exception of 1st Circle, which is restricted to a maximum of Talent Rank 3. NOTE: The character's Legend Point Total will be 10,000 + the value of the Talents he/she started with, as per the Character Creation Summary. Any players who don't calculate this total treat it as being 2,000 LP, and therefore start play with an LP total of 12,000. All new characters will begin the campaign with Legendary Status 1. Players writing up a background for their character will receive an added bonus of 100-1,000 Legend Points, depending on how good it is. These points will be awarded during play. Comprehensive and interesting write-ups of events relating to the character during (or out of) play will also earn additional awards equal to 1-2 times the standard Legend Award for the character's Circle at the time of submission. Send them to me for submission to the Web, along with a copy of the latest stats for your character (an example of what's expected will be posted here soon), and also receive an additional award of 100-1,000 points. This replaces the characters visiting the Great Library of Throal once per year, but you may earn points for doing that as well.
Goods and Services : In addition to the starting monies (120 sp) that characters normally get as part of the standard Character Creation process, all new characters receive an additional 2,000 sp with which to purchase equipment and magic items. Characters purchasing Threaded Items and with the appropriate Talent (Thread Weaving) can be assumed to have learned the First Key Knowledge, and therefore can spend the appropriate number of Legend Points to weave a thread to the item.
Spellcasters : Each time a spellcaster gains a Circle, he or she automatically gains a new spell of that Circle, generated randomly from those in the Earthdawn Downtime System. All spellcasters must have a Grimoire. This is a pattern item for the character, so it is recommended that the spellcaster keeps a good eye on it at all times, particularly those spellcasters that have made enemies.
Knacks : The rules introduced a set of Talent Specialisations called Knacks to the game with the release of the Magic: Manual of Mystic Secrets and Arcane Mysteries of Barsaive supplements. It is suggested that those players who don't have access to these books hold back 300-400 Legend Points 'just in case' for use in purchasing these Knacks. Knacks are purchased when the character reaches the appropriate Talent Rank for that Knack. As a guide, there are few Knacks for Talents with a Rank less than 5.
